Mark Wilson wins West Midlands Leadership Award

Earlier this month, Vertali’s Mark Wilson was recognized in the West Midlands Leadership Awards 2024, winning the category Company Leader (up to 100 employees). Organized by TheBusinessDesk.com, these awards celebrate the people in the region ‘who are role models within their organizations and raise the bar for their competitors.’

More than 250 guests attended the Awards at the Macdonald Burlington in Birmingham where they heard from Melissa Snover, 2023 Leader of the Year and CEO and founder of Nourished, as well as Dionne Mallens from LoveBrum, TheBusinessDesk.com’s charity partner.

Mark is an entrepreneur, award-winning international speaker, thought leader, blogger and educator, combining a deep technical understanding of technology and mainframe infrastructure with experience of client needs and real-world pressures.

With the idea for the new company discussed in June 2022, Vertali officially launched in September 2022, generating immediate interest from global IT solutions providers including IBM, Mainline, and BMC Software. Mark began broadening the team rapidly, ramping up business development, marketing, recruitment and partner relations. This included bringing on board an Operations Director, Account Director, and an ever-growing array of consultants, security experts, and technology specialists.

In the year since, the company has “smashed” every commercial target in its original business plan, from both an actualrevenue (days delivered) and order intake (promissory note) perspective.

From an original core team of four, the company now has 20 full-time employees, and up to 10 contractors/consultants at any given time. Clients include leading banks in the UK, USA and Germany, and the UK’s largest retailer.
